Before divorcing Deidre Pujols, a former baseball player named Albert Pujols wed her for more than 22 years. When their children and relatives found out that their parents were divorcing, they were shocked.
Deidre first revealed in April that she would be having brain surgery to remove a tumor that was found in October of last year. On the day of her surgery, her husband Albert was participating in spring training with the “St. Louis Cardinals.” Albert consequently declared to ESPN that if her life was in danger, he “would not be here.”
Pujols made a divorce-related remark on Nightengale’s tweet, asking how the family has been doing since they parted ways. He expressed his gratitude for the five lovely children they had given birth to and vowed to provide a safe, loving home for them.

Albert Pujols Biography
Former first baseman and designated hitter Albert Pujols is a Dominican American who spent 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB).
Prior to spending half of a season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he spent his first eleven seasons as a player with the St. Louis Cardinals, followed by more than nine seasons with the Los Angeles Angels. In Spanish, he was referred to as “La Máquina” or “The Machine.” In 2022, he made his way back to the Cardinals for his last campaign.
Pujols was a well-liked batter who for a considerable amount of time showed off a “combination of contact-hitting ability, patience, and raw power.” He was named National League (NL) MVP in 2005, 2008, and 2009, and he is an 11-time All-Star (2001, 2003–2010, 2015, 2022).
Pujols was raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, by his grandmother, America Pujols, and ten of his uncles and aunts. Albert was the only child in the family at the time. His father, softball pitcher Bienvenido Pujols, suffered greatly from alcoholism.
Due to his love of baseball, Pujols played during his early years using milk cartons as gloves and limes for balls. This meant that Pujols had to take up the responsibility of driving his father home after games. Having graduated from high school one semester ahead of schedule in December 1998, he was awarded a baseball scholarship to Maple Woods Community College.
Pujols turned an unassisted triple play and hit a grand slam in the opening game of his only college season. He hit.461 with 22 home runs in his rookie season and announced his intention to enter the Major League Baseball (MLB) draft. In major league history, Pujols is the only player with more total bases and runs batted in than Henry Aaron.
The only two players with more than 2,200 RBIs are him and Aaron. (Baby Ruth played six seasons before RBIs were officially recognized as a statistic, so while he has more than 2,200 RBIs, it is only an unofficial total.)
Only two players—Willie Mays and Stan Musial—have amassed more than 6,000 total bases. In his career, Pujols is fifth in doubles and fourth in home runs. Pujols broke the major league single-season record for assists by a first baseman in 2009 with 185.
